The point-to-point Cheyenne Marathon: Run the Legend is run primarily on paved surfaces with nearly 6 miles of gravel. The event features a marathon, half-marathon, 4 person relay, and 10k.
The course takes runners on a historical tour of Laramie County featuring Archer, home of the Laramie County Fair and former University research station; the Hereford Ranch which was established in 1867; the Big Boy Steam Engine 4004; the Historic Courthouse where Tom Horn was hung; the Historic State Capital where Nellie Taylor Ross served as the first woman Governor in the United States; the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens; Cheyenne Frontier Days which is the world's largest outdoor rodeo; and the Historic Depot which is a national landmark and former Union Pacific Depot.
